OSP charges Charles Bissue over alleged corruption

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has dragged a former Presidential staffer in the previous administration, Charles Bissue, to court for allegedly engaging in corruption.

Bissue, who was also the Secretary to the disbanded Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCM), has been charged with various counts of corruption by a public officer and using public office for profit.

The OSP has accused Bissue  of allegedly using his office as Secretary of the IMCM to  collect  GH¢35,000 from one Benjamin Adjapong “for the purpose of circumventing established requirements of the IMCM in respect of verification of documents” for renewal of mining license.

Also standing trial is one Andy Thomas Owusu, who is accused of facilitating the payment of the money to Bissue.

He has also been charged with various counts of corruption of a public officer and accepting bribe to influence a public officer.

The charge sheet was filed at the High Court in Accra on Monday[April 28, 2025] and signed by the Director of Prosecutions of the OSP , Dr Isidore Tufuor.
