Osu Traditional Council donates to fire victims

The two children who lost their lives during the fire which gutted a residence at Osu Kuku Hill in Accra are to be buried tomorrow, Saturday, January 17, 2014 at the Osu Cemetery.

This came to light when the Osu Traditional Council donated a number of items to the parents of the victims and other affected persons at Osu.

The items included bags of rice, toiletries, provisions, detergents and an undisclosed amount of money.

Presenting the items, Nii Kwabena Bonne, Osu Alata Mantse, who led members of the traditional council, said the items could not replace all that they (the victims) had lost, but he expressed the hope that they would go a long way to support them.

On behalf of the Osu Mantse, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona IV, Nii Bonne expressed his condolence to those who lost their loved ones and called on other philanthropists to come to the aid of the affected people.

Mr Samuel Dowuona, the family head, who received the items on behalf of the fire victims, thanked members of the council for their benevolence.

On Friday, January 2, 2015, fire gutted a residence at Osu during which two children, Nancy Aryee, six, and her little brother, Edward Okai-Aryee, a nine-month-old baby, sustained severe burns during the fire disaster and later died at the Police Hospital in Accra.
