Pastor dies in accident

A 38-year-old pastor yesterday lost his life when his vehicle collided head-on with a sprinter Benz bus at Ofoase Kokoben in the Ashanti Region.

The mutilated body of Pastor Moses Addai of the Poano branch of the Assemblies of God Church in the Amansie West District has been deposited at the Jacobu Hospital mortuary for autopsy.

Six other persons, who sustained various degrees of injury have been sent to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Pastor Addai, who was heading towards Kumasi from Anwiankwanta, was said to have tried to overtake a number of cars at a time and in the process collided head-on with the oncoming sprinter bus.

Confirmation

The Bekwai District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Edward Obeng Boateng, who confirmed the accident to the Daily Graphic, indicated that Pastor Moses Addai was driving a Pontiac Vibe vehicle with registration number AC140-15.

He claimed that in his attempt to overtake a number of cars, Pastor Addai hit the side of a car with two passengers, sending them into a ditch before colliding head-on with the sprinter bus with registration number AW2076-11, which had two passengers on board in addition to the driver.

Injured

Mr Boateng said the injured passengers in the first car were sent to the Dominase SDA Hospital where they were treated and discharged while the occupants of the Benz bus were sent to the Bekwai Government Hospital.

He said Richard Owusu, 29, believed to be the driver of the sprinter bus, was currently on admission at the Abinkyiman Hospital near Anwiankwanta receiving treatment.
