Persus Mining supports Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases conference
Persus Mining Ghana Limited (PMGLl) has donated GH¢¢215,000 towards the hosting of the Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases conference in the country from July 10 to 23 this year.
The donation was made by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of PMGL Nana Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI, to support the preparation towards the hosting of the conference.
The cheque for the amount was presented in Accra last week at which the National Programme Manager of Tuberculosis (TB), Dr Frank Bonsu, asked for more efforts to be made to control TB.
Presentation
Nana Agyensaim, who is also a member of the board of directors of PMGL, presented the cheque on behalf of the company.
Dr Bonsu thanked the PMGL for the support, observing that it would facilitate the fight to eliminate TB. He asked for more support from all Ghanaians to eliminate the disease.
He said the conference would be attended by a lot of scientists and researchers drawn from various parts of the world, who would share ideas on how to eliminate the disease.
Appeal
Nana Agyensam said the government could not do everything for the public and called for support from corporate bodies to address the challenge TB posed.
He said one of his duties was to prevent stigmatisation of the disease so that those affected with it would not hide but come out and be treated. He added that “TB is curable and it can attack anybody. “
