
Temporary road closures for Millennium Marathon on Saturday
The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the Millennium Marathon Sports Limited (MMSL), has announced temporary road closures and diversions in Accra on Saturday, September 6, 2025, to facilitate the smooth organisation of the Millennium Marathon.
The affected routes include the Atta Mills High Street towards Osu, Liberation Road from the 37 intersection towards the Central Business District, Independence Avenue at the National Theatre traffic light, La Beach Road, Oxford Street, Cantonments Road, and the Jawaharlal Nehru Road.
According to the Police, motorists from Liberation Road are expected to use the Kawukudi road through the Kanda Highway and connect to Barnes Road towards the CBD or alternatively use the Giffard Road to Osu.
Those travelling on the Atta Mills Highway are advised to divert through Liberia and Barnes roads to the 37 intersection to link Osu and La. Motorists on Giffard Street should also use the 37 intersection through Kaokudi to Dr. Hilla Limann High Street towards the CBD.
The Police cautioned that no vehicle will be allowed to park on the affected roads during the event and urged the public to plan alternative routes ahead of their journeys.
Traffic officers will be stationed at vantage points to guide and assist motorists throughout the marathon.
