Police arrest ex-convict for impersonating soldier, extorting residents at Ashaiman

The Tema Regional Police Command, through the Ashaiman Police, has arrested Bright Atsu Kudiabor, aged 32, for allegedly posing as a soldier and extorting money from persons within Ashaiman.

According to a press release issued on September 16, the suspect, an ex-convict, was arrested on Wednesday, September 16, at about 07:00 am after he was allegedly found at an area known as "I Shall Return," parading himself as a soldier and extorting money from unsuspecting victims.

The suspect was initially arrested by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service in Ashaiman, with assistance from other persons, and handed over to the Police.

A search conducted on him led to the recovery of a set of military camouflage uniform.

The suspect is currently in Police custody, assisting with investigations. He will be processed for court upon completion of investigations.

The Tema Regional Police Command cautioned the public to be vigilant and report persons who falsely present themselves as soldiers or belong to other security agencies to deceive or extort money from members of the public.
