Man arrested with 66 parcels of suspected Indian hemp in tricycle at Samreboi
A man has been arrested at the Samreboi-Tanokrom snap checkpoint in the Western Central Region after 66 parcels of suspected Indian hemp were found in his possession.
The arrest took place on Thursday, July 31, 2025, when officers from the Asankragwa Divisional Command stopped a tricycle, commonly known as Pragia, during routine checks along the Samreboi-Tanokrom road.
The suspect, identified as Daniel Yeboah, was travelling with two large bags containing the suspected narcotics.
In a statement issued by the Ghana Police Service on August 3, 2025, Mr Yeboah told investigators that the parcels were given to him by a woman in Wenchi, in the Bono Region, to be delivered to her at Mumuni Camp near Samreboi. He said he was paid GH¢5,000 to carry out the delivery.
Police say efforts are underway to trace and arrest the woman, who is believed to be connected to the transport and distribution of the suspected drugs. Investigators are working in both the Western Central and Bono regions to locate her.
Mr Yeboah is expected to be arraigned before court on Monday, August 4, 2025.
The Regional Police Command has urged members of the public to provide any information that may assist in identifying or locating the alleged female accomplice.
The Police have also reminded transport operators and community members to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.
