Police officer dead, 3 others injured in accident on Walewale-Bolgatanga highway
A police officer died on the spot while three of his colleagues sustained various degrees of injuries when a bus ran into their vehicle at Loagri, a community near Walewale on the Tamale-Walewale-Bolgatanga Highway in the North East Region on Saturday dawn.
The deceased police officer, Corporal (Cpl) Enerst Oteng was a member of the Walewale police patrol team who were escorting some buses in a convoy from the Tamale direction to Bolgatanga and Bawku in the Upper East region when the accident happened.
Injured
One out of the three police officers who were with the deceased in the police vehicle who sustained injuries on the hand has been treated and discharged from the West Mamprusi Municipal Hospital at Walewale while two others who are in critical condition are still on admission at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).

The two officers who are said to be in a critical condition are Lance Cpl Elijah and Cpl Paul Ofori.
Briefing
The Walewale Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent (Supt), Mr Samuel Yeboah who confirmed the incident to Graphic Online said the driver of the bus that ran into the police vehicle leading to the death of the police officer is currently in police custody and would be processed for court.
Supt Yeboah told the Graphic Online that the incident happened on Saturday around 4.30 am, September 19, 2020.
He said upon resuming duty as the divisional commander he set up patrol teams to fight the incessant armed robbery in Walewale and its environs which has gone down considerably in the area.
He said the deceased Cpl and his other colleagues who sustained various degrees of injuries were part of the patrol team who were on duty on the highway on the fateful day of the accident.
