Police retrieve AK-47 rifle with 28 rounds of ammunition in Binduri, one suspect dead

Following recent shooting incidents and other firearm related offences in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region, the police has been able to retrieve one AK-47 rifle and 28 rounds of ammunition.

But during the operation to retrieve the firearm, one suspect, identified by the police as Isaka Sabani alias “Culture”, aged 32, who sustained gunshot wounds has since died.

A police statement issued on Thursday night explained that it was an intelligence-led operation in collaboration with the military following recent shooting incidents and other firearm related offences in the Binduri District.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect was wanted in connection with a case of attempted murder and unlawful discharge of firearms reported at the Bawku Police Station on August 28, 2026.

He was said to have been involved in shooting incidents at Agenda 111, Aniisi and Gumyoko in the Binduri District on 29th, 30th and 31st  of August 2026.
