After a 10-day working visit to the United States of America (USA), which culminated in a grand celebration of Akwasidae Kɛse in Maryland, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, returned to Kumasi on Thursday to a rapturous welcome.
Graphic Online's Emmanuel Baah reports from Kumasi that Otumfuo's chartered flight touched down at the Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi, at exactly 12:30 PM.

In line with tradition, various chiefs, local leaders, and security heads were at the airport to receive him.
A guard of honour was mounted by the security services to receive him.

Otumfuo, from the airport, moved through some principal streets of Kumasi to thunderous applause and praise singing before proceeding to the Manhyia Palace.

In the United States, Otumfuo delivered a lecture at Howard University in Washington, D.C., on the theme, “Governance, Cultural Preservation, Traditional Leadership and the Enduring Connections Between Ghana and the Global African Diaspora.”
He also observed the grand Akwasidae at the campus of Bowie University in Maryland, where Asantes from all walks of life in North America were in attendance from the grand festival.
He also held a high-level engagement with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., among other memorable engagements.
