Seven policemen who arrested five suspects in connection with the robbery and murder of 40-year-old gold dealer at Agona Nkwanta in the Western Region have been promoted by the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The promotion of the seven including one senior officer is a move aimed at strengthening leadership within the security service.
The promotion ceremony was led by the Inspector General of Police, Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno at the Police Headquarters in Accra on Thursday (September 3, 2026).
The Director-General of the Legal and Prosecution Directorate, COP Joseph Oklu Gyamera urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
He emphasised that the new ranks come with increased responsibility, particularly at a time when public expectations of the Police Service remain high in areas such as crime prevention, public safety and trust-building.
He said the promotions are intended not only to reward performance but also to reinforce the leadership structure as part of ongoing reforms to enhance operational effectiveness nationwide.
