They were impounded on the Odumase, Atronie and Abesim roads, the Penkwase Traffic Light, the Fiapre Barrier, the Sunyani Technical University, the Sunyani Post Office, the SSNIT Roundabout, among others.
The unannounced operation was part of the MTTD’s mandate to create discipline and sanity on the roads to avoid unnecessary accidents in the municipality.
Create discipline
The Brong Ahafo Regional Commander of the MTTD, Superintendent Stella Sedame, told the Daily Graphic that all those who were arrested would be processed for court, while those who would produce their documents would be served with warning letters.
According to her, the exercise was meant to create discipline and prevent unnecessary accidents.
She said the exercise was also meant to create awareness of the rules and regulations governing driving and the use of motorbikes and cautioned riders and drivers against violation of those rules and regulations.
