The group presented them with some food items, toiletries, a bale of second-hand clothing and shoes worth GH¢4,000.

Additionally, the group presented an undisclosed amount to the inmates.

Members of the church had the privilege to share the word of God and interacted with the prisoners at the ceremony.

The wife of the General Overseer of the church, Mrs Anita Kusi Boateng, who led the delegation, said as a religious entity, its members were mindful of their obligation to the vulnerable in society.

Appreciation

Receiving the items on behalf of the inmates, the Ashanti Regional Chaplain of the Ghana Prisons Service, Reverend Canon Supt. Paa Kwesi Ansah, commended the group for their generosity.

He called on other philanthropists and groups to emulate the kind gesture and said the government alone could not shoulder all national responsibilities.

The Kumasi Central Prison currently has an inmate population of 1,864 men and 40 women.
