Presby schools asked not to deviate from core mandate

The Chairperson of the Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. George Opare Kwapong, has advised Presbyterian Colleges of Education in the country not to deviate from their core mandate of holistic development of individuals who passed through their system.

“The training of the head, the heart and the hand makes an individual useful and complete,” he said. 

 

He, however, expressed concern that such a training regime was now lacking in the curriculums of the schools.

Rev. Kwapong further emphasised the need to help the students to imbibe moral training to promote honesty and integrity in the country.

He gave an assurance that the Akuapem Presbytery, like its counterparts, would continue to follow the example of the Basel Mission by investing in education in the country.

Presentation

He gave the advice during a presentation of a 15-seater Nissan bus to the Akropong Presbyterian College of Education by the Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana

The GH¢132.000 bus was purchased from the Akuapem Presbytery Education Fund, which started in 2011.

Rev. Kwapong said the Akuapem Presbytery had also presented duty cars to eight Presbyterian Senior High schools in the Presbytery.

Beneficiaries

The beneficiary schools, which received the cars, were Aburi Presbyterian Girls Senior High ,Aburi Senior High Technical, Mampong Senior High, Larteh Presbyterian Senior High Technical, Adukrom Presbyterian Senior High Technical ,Suhum Presbyterian Senior High Technical, Adeiso Presbyterian Senior High, and Coaltar Presbyterian Senior High schools.

In addition, the heads of those schools also received laptop each for official use.

Rev. Kwapong said headmasters’ bungalows were also constructed for some of the beneficiary schools.

The Eastern Regional Manager of Presbyterian schools was also presented with an official vehicle.

Appreciation

The Principal of the Presbyterian College of Education, Rev. Samuel Antwi-Yeboah, on behalf of the college, thanked the Presbytery for the timely donation of the bus.

He said the college had a large population of students and that supervision of those on teaching practice was a challenge due to the lack of transportation.
