The General Manager of Docutech Ghana, Mr Joe Alhassan, has called on government institutions, corporate organizations, and printing presses to prioritize sustainability when purchasing printing machines.
Speaking at the launch of the Xerox PrimeLink C9200 Series Printer in Accra on June 18, he stressed the importance of eco-friendly equipment that protects both workers and the environment.
The event offered an exclusive hands-on demonstration of the printer's advanced capabilities and served as a networking opportunity for industry stakeholders.
Notable attendees included Adrian Tighe, Xerox UK Specialist for the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey; Jean Louis Feghali, Managing Director of Docutech; and Giulia T. Feghali, Business Relations Manager at Docutech.
Mr Alhassan highlighted Xerox’s commitment to sustainability: “Xerox has always been ahead—from inventing xerography to producing environmentally friendly machines. We don’t engage in unsafe practices like toner refills.”
He urged organizations to consider long-term costs, health impact, and environmental footprint.
“These devices are cost-efficient, reliable, and backed with full service support—on par with what users get in the UK or US,” he said.
Mr Alhassan also warned against using unsafe toner refills.
“In Ghana, awareness is low. Even government agencies use refill toners, exposing workers to substances like toner dust, which can cause cancer.”
He called for strict environmental standards in manufacturing and responsible local distribution.
Mr Tighe described the PrimeLink C9200 as a fusion of proven and future-ready technology, suitable for offices and commercial operations.
“It brings affordable, high-quality printing to all environments,” he said.
He reaffirmed Xerox’s global leadership in sustainability, citing the company’s remanufacturing programme that reduces waste and reuses components.
