Reckless Voxy driver on Kumasi-Accra highway convicted, jailed 2 months with hard labour and fined Gh¢ 3,120
A driver captured in a viral video driving dangerously on the Kumasi–Accra highway and endangering the lives of other road users has been convicted, fined Gh¢ 3120 with an additional jail sentence of two monthswith hard labour..
Richard Agyarko, who was in charge of a Toyota Voxy vehicle with registration number EN 551-26, was arrested following investigations by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the police after the video was circulated online
Agyarko was charged with driving on the wrong side of the road, causing road obstruction, causing danger to other road users, and careless and inconsiderate driving, contrary to the Road Traffic Regulations and the Road Traffic Act.
On May 8, 2026, Agyarko was arraigned before the La Motor Court, presided over by Adwoa Sakyi Asumadu, where he pleaded guilty to all charges.
He was convicted on his own plea and sentenced to pay a fine of 260 penalty units, equivalent to GH¢ 3,120.00, or in default serve 15 days imprisonment with hard labour. He was additionally sentenced to two months imprisonment with hard labour.
