Rocksure International secures $20m contract

Rocksure’s five-years’ experience in drilling, blast and haulage among other expertise with giants, Anglogold Ashanti in Bogoso and Daman, as well as foreign projects scattered across the continent including Mali easily won it the job.

The Perseus contract takes Rocksure’s business units to four after similar ones in Bogoso, Daman and Takoradi which are all running concurrently.

The Chief Executive Officer of Rocksure, Mr Kwasi Osei Ofori, and the Board Chairman of Perseus, Nana Prah Agyeinsem VI, signed for their respective companies to signal the official commencement of the project.

As per the agreement, at least 40 per cent of the workforce would be locals within the Ayanfuri community and its environs in the spirit of promoting indigenisation.

Perseus Mining would manage the final leg of the production process and the marketing aspect.

Nana Agyeinsem VI, who is also the Paramount Chief of Assin Kushia in the Central Region, said the victory by Rocksure in a stiff competition was an indication that Ghanaian local mining companies had come of age and were ready to take the world by storm.

Mr Ofori promised to build on the experiences over the last five years to add value to Perseus and to enhance its own image.
