Speaking to the Daily Graphic, the President of the club, Mr Kwame Gyamfi Boateng, explained that during a visit to the place, members realised that the unit needed to be rehabilitated and, therefore, decided to help in that respect.

He said Rotaract also wanted, through its assistance, to create awareness of the existence of the unit.

Talking about other projects lined up by the club, Mr Boateng said, among other things, Rotaract would adopt a school and provide a scholarship scheme for its pupils, especially orphans.

The Public Health Physician Specialist of the Korle Bu Fevers Unit, Dr Ernest Kenu, lauded Rotaract for the support, and added that the club had been helpful to the unit by undertaking clean-up exercises there as well.

Dr Kenu noted that the phase of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) had changed in the past 15 years.

He said everyone was vulnerable to the disease and so all health centres needed to be given the basic facilities to handle the situation and called on the authorities, corporate bodies and individuals to assist the unit.
