Sap’s School marks 40th anniversary
It was a joyous moment for students, parents, invited guests and friends of the Sap’s School in Accra when it marked its 40th anniversary celebrations with a thanksgiving service and graduation ceremony.
There was the lighting of a perpetual flame, photo exhibition, choral and brass band music as well as traditional dance performances and poetry recitals.
All these were interspersed with motivating speeches by notable guests at the well-attended programme.
Sap’s School is a first cycle institution established to provide basic education for children from nursery to junior high school (JHS). It was founded in 1975 by Mrs Emma Nana Asobu Sapara-Grant with five young children on the porch of her home at the Teshie-Nungua Estates.
Forty years down the line, the Sap’s School has become one of the basic schools with rich academic records and a reputation for strict discipline and Christian upbringing.
Giving some details of the school’s achievements at the 40th anniversary ceremony, the Executive Director, Mrs Sama Grant-Chuku said right from the inception of the Basic School Certificate Examination (BECE) in 1987 to date, Sap’s School had always attained 100 per cent passes with distinction.
Prof. Stephen Adei, former Rector of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Christian International High School at Afienya, who was the guest speaker, said all Ghanaians must be mindful of the fact that the state and wider educational system in the country left much to be desired, especially when it came to public basic and senior high schools.
The special guest of honour, Rev. Dr Joyce Aryee of the Salt and Light Ministries, congratulated the graduating students and urged them, as well as everyone else, to be of good character.
