Residents and businesses across multiple suburbs in both the Accra West and Accra East Regions are being advised to prepare for a temporary interruption in power supply on Monday, as the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) rolls out separate maintenance exercises aimed at enhancing the stability and quality of electricity delivery.

According to announcements from the power distributor, engineers will be undertaking essential infrastructure upgrades simultaneously in both regions on 9th March 2026, with the scheduled outages expected to last for the duration of the working day.

In the Accra West Region, the maintenance exercise is set to run from 9:00 am through to 5:00 pm, affecting communities including Ahodwo, Fotobi, Pokrom, Nsakyi, and Obuodaka, as well as the various localities that fall within their immediate catchment areas. The ECG has indicated that the works are part of ongoing efforts to improve service reliability for customers in that corridor.

Meanwhile, across the Accra East Region, a separate but similarly timed operation will be undertaken during the same hours on Monday.

The power outage will impact areas such as Dzorwulu, La-Aboma, the Family Health Centre, Teshie Maami, and the Presbyterian Church, along with their surrounding neighbourhoods. The utility company has clarified that these works are also geared towards reinforcing the network and preempting potential system failures.

In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience that such technical interventions inevitably cause to both domestic and commercial activities. The company, however, reassured the public that the exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power grid and to ultimately deliver improved service to consumers in the affected communities.
