The Electricity Company of Ghana has announced a fresh round of scheduled maintenance works across four operational regions for Thursday, March 12, 2026, with engineers set to undertake infrastructure upgrades that will temporarily disrupt power supply to multiple communities in the Greater Accra and Central enclaves.

According to advisories issued by the power distributor over the past several days, the exercises form part of ongoing efforts to enhance service reliability and strengthen the stability of the national grid.

The outages will commence at 9:00 am across all affected areas, though the duration of interruptions will vary by region depending on the scope of works to be carried out.

In the Accra East Region, technicians will be operating between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, with the maintenance focused on several key localities. The outage will affect parts of Ashongman Estate, Pure Water, East Legon, the French School, MJ Grand Hotel, Chez Afrique, and the East Legon Police Station, along with their surrounding areas. Residents and businesses in this upmarket corridor have been advised to plan accordingly for the eight-hour disruption.

The Accra West Region is also slated for a full-day exercise running from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, impacting communities including Oshiyie, Alogboshie, Achimota Neoplan, Benjilo, and the Mateheko Roman Church, together with their adjoining neighbourhoods. The company has indicated that the works in this area are critical to improving supply quality for residents along that stretch.

The Central Region will witness two separate maintenance exercises on Thursday. The first operation, scheduled from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, will affect the Brimso water works and the Bronyibima Estate, along with surrounding localities. A second, longer exercise in the same region will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, impacting the Senya township, Fetteh township, Ojobi, and Bonsuoku, as well as their surrounding communities. These coastal and farming areas have been urged to cooperate with ECG personnel as they carry out the necessary upgrades.

In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience that such technical interventions inevitably cause to both domestic and commercial activities.

The company, however, reassured the public that the exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network and to ultimately deliver improved service to consumers across the regions.
