The centre has 35 computers, four air-conditioners, one tele-projector, one home theatre, eight packets of assorted books and other stationery.

The project is aimed at addressing illiteracy and bringing about improvement in the standard of education at Kofikrom.

The Chief of Kofikrom, Nana Norkwabuor II, said the world had become limited in scope such that ICT was playing a crucial role in making life easier for mankind.

Nana Norkwabuor II, also known in private life as Mr Thompson Donkor, a businessman, noted that the facility had come at a good time because it was going to give people who were interested in studying ICT but did not have money the opportunity to do so.

The Omanhene of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, Okatakyie Kwasi Bumagama II, commended Nana Norkwabour for his selfless commitment to seeing the community develop. He said Nana Norkwabuor had shown by deed and not by mouth that he had the welfare of the people at heart.

“This is very clear, considering the project he has put up. In fact, we need more of such public-spirited people to lead us in our development drive,” he said.

Okatakyie Bumagama expressed the hope that the action of Nana Norkwabuor would inspire other people in the traditional area to emulate his shining example.

As a sign of appreciation and approval of his services to the people of the area, chiefs in the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area conferred on Nana Norkwabuor the title, “Sompahen”.

The Deputy Minister for Water Resources,  Works and Housing and MP for Buodi Constitency, Mr Sampson Ahi, urged chiefs to invest their resources in creating employment opportunities for the teeming youth in the area.

Other speakers at the function  commended the chief for his initiative and interest in the development of the community and urged him to take up other initiatives that would boost the socio-economic development of the area.

Funds were raised to support some of the ongoing projects the chief was undertaking in the community.
