Teacher arrested for allegedly defiling 9 pupils

A 28-year-old teacher who allegedly defiled nine pupils in his school has been arrested by the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Northern Regional Police Command

The suspect, David Ananga, is currently in police custody with an accomplice, Frederick Akoto, who allegedly made his room available for the act.

Ananga is said to have been transferred from the Lamashegu Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Primary School in the Tamale metropolis to another school after attempting to abort the pregnancy of one of his victims.

The police have also invited authorities of the school for questioning for allegedly shielding the suspect.

The Northern Regional Coordinator of DOVVSU, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr Emmanuel Holortu, who confirmed the story, said the suspect was arrested after a complaint had been lodged with the unit.

He said Ananga had been charged with defilement and causing illegal abortion, while his accomplice had been charged with abetment of crime.
They will be put before court next week.
