Tema MCE Ebi Bright initiates emergency repairs on deplorable harbour road
The newly confirmed Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Madam Ebi Bright, has launched an emergency initiative to rehabilitate the deteriorating Harbour Road.
Just days into her tenure, Madam Bright led a team of engineers from the Tema Metropolitan Assembly and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority to commence emergency repair works on a 300-metre stretch of the road.
This section forms part of the Tema Harbour Road, commonly referred to as the “Akosombo Road.”
The repair project will focus on the most severely damaged portion of the road, located at the lowest point along the entire stretch.
Madam Bright stated that the primary goal of the repairs is to provide immediate relief to the large number of drivers and commuters who rely on the Harbour Road daily.
The said road, even though is an important stretch in the transportation of goods from the Tema Port, has big trenches on it, making it difficult and dangerous for haulage trucks to easily manoeuvre, a situation motorists fear could lead to serious crashes as the truck could turn over.
The Tema MCE also announced plans to desilt the drains along the remaining two-kilometre road leading to the Tema Motorway interchange to improve water drainage, especially with the rainy season approaching.
The project highlights the MCE’s commitment to enhancing the infrastructure and the quality of life for the residents of Tema.
