Three Korle Bu surgical clinics suspend operations

Operations at three surgical clinics at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital will be suspended from Monday, February 8, 2016, until further notice.

They are the Urology Clinic, the General Surgery Clinic and the Neurology Clinic.

A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the hospital, Mr Mustapha Salifu, stated that the suspension of the three clinics was to allow “for work to be completed in some of our theatres and recovery wards at the Department of Surgery that are being rehabilitated and re-equipped to improve the quality of care.”

It said emergency cases in the affected areas would, however, be attended to after prior arrangements were made in respect of such cases.

“Non-emergency or elective cases in Urology, General Surgery and Neurology should be referred to other hospitals within the metropolis,” it said.
