Three robbery suspects arrested

Two members of a gang of robbers which went on  robbery at Russia and Banana Inn in Accra on July 1, 2014 have been arrested.  Ali Mohammed, alias Ali Kosei, 20, a Nigerian, and Nasiru Mohammed Tango, alias Gaza, 28, from Benin, were part of a gang of four robbers which had attacked a baker and a student at Russia and two residents of Banana Inn that day.

The leader of the gang, Mohammadu Mumuni, alias Osama, 20, was arrested on the day of the attack.
An accomplice whose name is being withheld by the police is at large.

Robbery spree
The Dansoman Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police Mr Antwi Tabi, said the gang, which was in possession of a pistol and machetes, attacked the baker in his house at Russia at 1:30 a.m, on July 1, 2014.

He said they forcibly entered the house and at gunpoint stole a Techno mobile phone, a Techno tablet and GH¢800 and left brandishing their weapons.

According to the divisional commander, 30 minutes later, the four men allegedly covered their faces with handkerchiefs and attacked a student in her house near the Russia Loso Park.

They robbed the student of her laptop, an RLG computer, a Blackberry mobile phone, a flat-screen television set and an unspecified amount of money.

Thirty minutes later, the gang attacked two residents of Banana Inn and robbed them of two laptops, three mobile phones and two digital cameras.

The robbers, who locked up their victims in a washroom, are said to have also made away with GH¢400, pen drives, an Expresso modem, an earth resistant tester and eight-millimetre electrical cables.

Police retrieve items
Through police intelligence, Mumuni was arrested at his hideout at the Kokomba Market in Accra later in the day of the robbery.
A search in the kiosk where he was found led to the retrieval of a Techno tablet and the electrical cables, which were his share of the booty.
Later, Mumuni led the police to arrest two of his accomplices on July 18, 2014.
