The visit was also for Ms Welch to formally introduce herself to the minister as the acting UNDP resident representative in Ghana.
Welcoming the new acting UNDP representative,  Mr Opong-Fosu said environmental development and the effect of climate change had been national priorities for some time now, as reflected in the Ghana Shared Growth Agenda, the blueprint of the national development agenda.

He noted that the threat to food security, caused by climate change, was real and nothing should be left to chance to face the situation with all the might of the nation.

Present at the meeting were the Deputy Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Tia Sugri, and some officials of the UNDP and the ministry.
