VIDEO: How Kwadwo Akofena Safo reacted to court injunction halting Apostle Kwadwo Safo's funeral

The High Court in Accra has temporarily halted the planned burial and funeral arrangements for the late founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Kwadwo Safo, which had been planned to start from July 30, 2026.

It follows the granting of an interlocutory injunction applied by Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, one of the late industrialist's sons.

The court order effectively restrains any party from proceeding with the funeral arrangements in the next 10 days pending the determination of the substantive legal dispute over the implementation of the late Apostle's final wishes.

Following the court decision, Safo Akofena in a video posted on X celebrated the court decision, describing it as a victory for due process and the enforcement of his father's will.

The development follows a family dispute between Akofena and his sister, Sarah Adwoa Safo, a former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, over who has the legal authority to lead in the organisation of the funeral of the renowned inventor, religious leader and founder of the Kantanka Group.

Background to the family feud

There has been a disagreement among family members over the organisation of burial and final funeral rites.

Also at the centre of the disagreement is the selection of a new leader for the chuch.

Kwadwo Akofena Safo has maintained that, following the reading of the will, responsibility for the funeral and burial rites was vested in him as leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission.

He has argued that all funeral arrangements must strictly comply with the wishes expressed in the will.

The dispute intensified after Adwoa Safo announced funeral dates, prompting Akofena and other family members to reject the announcement, insisting no consensus had been reached.
