The system supplies 10,000 litres of water daily to Antsembua and surrounding communities.

It was funded by Project Maji, a non-governmental organisation, at the cost of $55,000.

The NGO had earlier funded a similar project at Atentun in the Assin Foso North District which was inaugurated last March.

The Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Nii Lante Vanderpuiye, who inaugurated the project, said the NGO had promised to roll out similar water projects for other communities in the KEEA.

The minister, therefore, appealed to the members of the municipal assembly to meet and consider areas suitable for the siting of the projects.

According to Mr Vanderpuiye, the government would ensure that many communities are provided with potable water to prevent the people from contracting diseases.

He underscored the need for effective collaboration among the people to develop their communities, stressing that “we must always focus on how to develop our communities.”

The minister commended the organisation and stressed the need for more public private partnership (PPP) to solve problems, particularly in rural areas.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the KEEA, Dr Nana Ato Arthur, appealed to the people to take good care of the facility, saying that “politics is about development.”

The Founder and Chief Executive of Project Maji, Mr Sunil Lalvani, said the team was excited about helping to alleviate the plight of the people.
