According to the EC, the Court’s order was clear and that come June 29, it would make available the list to it.

Speaking on Citi FM Friday morning, the Director of Communications at the EC, Eric Kofi Dzakpasu noted that “the Electoral Commission respects the ruling of the Supreme Court very much. The Supreme Court gave us two clear orders…this is exactly what we are going to do come 29th June.”

The Supreme Court on Thursday order the EC to within six days, provide it with the full list of voters who were registered onto the electoral roll with the NHIS cards.

The apex court also ordered the EC to within the same period, furnish the court with how it intended to comply with the court’s judgement on the electoral register delivered on May 5, 2016.

This comes on the back of an application filed by former youth organiser of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Abu Ramadan and one Evans Nimako for a clarification on the Court’s May 5 ruling that the EC should take immediate steps to delete or clean the names of minors, those deceased and those who registered with NHIS cards from the voters register to comply with the 1992 Constitution.

Achievability

According to Mr Dzakpasu, the EC is prepared to make available the list to the Court.

“I wouldn’t want to speculate about figures but we’ve been given clear cut specific orders and we’re going to make sure come 29th June at the Supreme Court we will meet with the learned judges and give them whatever they want from us.”
