Wee nabbed in 'diplomatic' vehicle
The Volta Regional police have arrested two men for illegally having in their possession 446 slabs of substances suspected to be Indian hemp (wee).

To outsmart the police, the suspects had concealed the substances in seven fertilizer sacks and were traveling in a Toyota Land cruiser with a diplomatic registration number plate from Hohoe in the Volta region to Accra.
The police identified them as Ahmed Haruna, a 39 year old driver and Castro Akoto, 24, a former student of the Accra Polytechnic.
They are currently in the custody of the police whilst investigations continue.
The Volta Regional Police Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent Kofi Abraham told Graphic Online that a police patrol team led by Chief Inspector Jonathan Larkai spotted the vehicle at about 5pm at Asikuma junction and ordered it to stop.
The driver, Haruna ignored the police and sped off. The police then chased them to a town called Osiabra and intercepted the vehicle.
Diplomatic registration number
After inspecting the vehicle, the police found out that it had a diplomatic registration number, CD 182/13.
According to Chief Supt Abraham, an examination of the vehicle showed that the diplomatic registration number was fake and that the original number plate of the vehicle was GS-1985 Z.
After a search, the police found the slabs concealed in the fertilizer sacks.
Castro Akoto told the police that his brother, one Akpenyo rented the vehicle for them to deliver the consignment to someone in Accra.
Pregnant woman arrested with wee
In a related development, a 22 year-old pregnant woman has also been arrested for the same offence.
The woman named as Angelina Boakye was found with 35 slabs of Indian hemp in a basket which she had covered with okro to deceive police officials.
Angelina, a hairdresser, was arrested at Kponvie barrier, also in the Volta region in a passenger vehicle travelling to Accra from Ve-Kolenu near Hohoe.
