The new medical facility will serve as a referral point for the health centres and the CHPS compounds in the area.

DCE Speaks

The District Chief Executive ( DCE ) for the area, Mr Isaac Akomaning Asamoah, made this known when he presented medical equipment to the health centre at Kwabeng last Tuesday.

Some of the equipment were supplied by the assembly which also solicited help from non-governmental organisations. The equipment include three delivery beds, theatre gowns, drips, face masks and surgical disposables.

According to Mr Asamoah, the health centre had to be upgraded to a polyclinic to enable it to perform certain functions such as surgical operations which were done in far away hospitals at Nkawkaw and Enyiresi.

The DCE also indicated that a new four-room ambulance centre with residential facility currently being put up a few metres away from the polyclinic would also be ready next month.

Appreciation

The Atiwa West District Director of Health, Dr Benedict Bekui, said the donation had been timely because the health centre had only one delivery bed, making it difficult to attend to two or more pregnant women at a time.

Dr Bekui who was grateful to the assembly for its kind gesture called for more of such assistance from other stakeholders to meet the challenges of the facility.
