The Deputy Minority Leader of Parliament, Dominic Nitiwul, has called on businessman Alfred Woyome to pay back with interest the GH¢51.2 million, which the the Supreme Court Tuesday ordered him to repay.

“It is time Mr Woyome and all the people who were involved must begin to see how they can pay our money back with interest. Because it’s been four years and so that interest aspect is of interest to me. As it is today, GH¢51.2 million can do a lot in my constituency,” he said.
The Supreme Court Tuesday unanimously ordered Woyome to refund a total of Ȼ51.2 million judgement debt payment he received between 2009 and 2010 to the state.
According to the court, Mr Woyome got the money out of an invalid and unconstitutional contract.
The court was ruling on a review application filed by a former Attorney General, Mr Martin Amidu on Tuesday.
Speaking on Asempa FM, Mr Nitiwul congratulated Mr Amidu for single-handedly “doing what the government itself couldn’t do”.
He urged the Supreme Court to give Mr Woyome a timeline to pay back the GH¢51.2 million with interest.

Mr Nitiwul added that the case against Mr Woyome should be a lesson to politicians.
“This should be a lesson to all of us politicians that when people rush to you with documents it is your duty to ensure that you scrutinise those documents.”
