Zoomlion intensifies mosquito control at La
The Vector Control Unit of Zoomlion has intensified its mosquito control activities in parts of the La municipality in Accra.
As part of its mandate and commitment to ensuring a clean and healthy environment, Zoomlion Company Limited, in the last two weeks, has embarked on its anti-malaria and mosquito spraying programme in the La Dade Kotopon Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

Activities being undertaken include larviciding, ‘adulticiding’, fogging and space spraying.
Those activities formed part of "our operations in all sub-metros nationwide but we really had to intensify the activities in this municipality because of the peculiar problem with mosquitos," Alhaji Habib Mohammed, head of the Vector Control Unit of Zoomlion said.
The Kpeshi Lagoon, which is the main breeding site of the mosquitoes, and its surrounding areas were sprayed with the help of boats.
A fogger machine mounted on a pickup truck was used for "adulticiding" - killing the adult mosquitoes in the municipality.
"We also sensitised members of the community to how to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes in and around their homes," through the use of public address systems, Habib Mohammed said.
The Chief Executive of the municipality, Ms Rita Odoley Sowa, expressed optimism that the exercise would help to alleviate the plight of her constituents. "Indeed, I am happy these things are happening and especially because the fogging is taking place in the evening when mosquitoes are everywhere," she said.
