Lifeland Medical Centre donates intravenous fluids to Weija-Gbawe Municipal Hospital

A private healthcare facility, Lifeland Medical Centre, has donated 20 boxes of intravenous (IV) fluids to the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Hospital to support its operations and help improve healthcare delivery in the municipality.

The Proprietor of the Lifeland Medical Centre, Nana Darko Ampem Ohyeadwira, who recently completed his one-year internship at the facility as a Physician Assistant-Clinician, made the donation.

He explained that the IV fluids were initially donated by the Director of the InvestGroup Foundation, a United States-based organisation, Dr Kizito Owusu Atuahene, to the Lifeland Medical Centre.

He said the decision to re-donate the items to the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Hospital was to ensure they reached a wider group of patients who needed them most.

“These fluids were a blessing to my facility, but I realised they could benefit even more people if sent to a bigger public hospital that handles emergency and in-patient cases daily,” he said.

Commitment

Nana Ohyeadwira said his motivation stemmed from a deep desire to contribute to quality healthcare delivery, particularly in under-resourced communities.

He said the Lifeland Medical Centre would continue to explore opportunities to collaborate with hospitals and health agencies to ensure that medical supplies and equipment benefited those who needed them most.

The proprietor further disclosed that the health facility has boxes of electrolyte fluids for dialysis and dialysis filters ready for donation.

He, therefore, extended an open invitation to dialysis centres and hospitals in need of such supplies to contact the centre.

“Any dialysis centre interested in receiving these essential items can reach out to us on 0201354600 for assistance,” he said.

Appreciation

Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital, the Clinical Care Coordinator, Dr Sandra Osei Agyei, expressed appreciation to Nana Ohyeadwira for his generosity and thoughtfulness.

She commended him for choosing the hospital where he trained to benefit from the donation, describing the gesture as timely and life-saving.

“We are grateful to Nana Ohyeadwira for giving back to the hospital.

The IV fluids will go a long way to assist us, especially in the management of patients in emergency and theatre situations,” she said.

The Senior Health Service Administrator, Ebenezer Mensah, on behalf of the Medical Superintendent, Dr David Kwabena Okoh and the entire management and staff of the hospital, also commended the Lifeland Medical Centre for the support.
