Work has been progressing steadily on the project, which is expected to hugely improve access to health care in the area.

President Mahama expressed satisfaction with the progress of work and urged the contractors to live up to expectation.

Mr Mahama later addressed a durbar organised in his honour by the chiefs and people of Tepa.

A large number of people turned up  to welcome the President, who was on the last leg of his three-day visit to the Ashanti Region.

Mr Mahama told the gathering that the area would get its share of development.

In that respect, infrastructural projects being undertaken in the road, health, agriculture and other sectors would be pursued with all seriousness.

Cocoa farmers

He said cocoa farmers played an important role in national development for which they would continuously be supported to improve yields.

The President said bonuses for cocoa farmers, which has not been paid for the last two years, would be paid this year.

He explained that the drop in prices of cocoa at the world market contributed to the failure to pay the bonus.

Mr Mahama further indicated that the fertiliser distribution programme was being reviewed to pluck the loopholes in the system.

Tepahene

The Tepahene, Nana Adusei Atwenewa Ampem, commended President Mahama for the good work he was doing to revive the fortunes of the country.

He said the hospital being built in Tepa was a masterpiece, and the people of the area would always be grateful to the government.

The President also addressed a durbar organised in his honour by the Zongo community in Kumasi.
