Abeiku Santana fails to contest NDC Mfantsiman seat
Radio presenter, Abeiku Santana has backed out of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) parliamentary primaries.
Abeiku Santana, real name Gilbert Aggrey had announced he would be contesting in the Mfantseman Constituency in the Central Region but failed to pick nomination forms for the contest.
Central Regional NDC Executives confirmed to Graphic Online at the close of filing of nominations on Thursday that Santana did not make any attempt at picking up a nomination form.
This was after the hype of his parliamentary bid in the media.
In various media interviews Santana said he was competent to run for parliament and that his 18 years’ experience in the media was going to be beneficial in his work as MP if elected.
Posters announcing plans by the radio presenter to contest the seat in his home region emerged months ago; a development which did not shock many as Santana had openly campaigned for President John Dramani Mahama in the 2012 elections.
