Accept defeat - Methodist cleric appeals to presidential race losers
The Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Rt Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Asare-Kusi, has made a passionate appeal to the losers of the presidential election to accept defeat in good faith.
That, according to him, would promote peace and make Ghana once more an oasis of peace in the West African sub-region.
Rt. Rev. Asare-Kusi made the call at the centenary anniversary celebration of the Wesley Society of the Akyem Anyinasin chapel of the Methodist Church at Akyem Anyinasin in the Eastern Region last Saturday.

The event, which was on the theme: "A 100 Years of Discipleship: Recounting The Sacrificial Faith of Our Predecessors", also witnessed the commissioning of the Wesleyan Information Centre to educate congregants on all aspects of Christian life.
Concern
Rt Rev. Asare-Kusi said most often losers of presidential elections did not accept defeat, thus plunging the countries concerned in anarchy.
Ghana, he said, must move forward after the December 7 polls and nothing should detail such development.
He told the congregants and all Ghanaians to act as agents of peace during and after the elections.
"We need to move Ghana forward after the presidential and parliamentary elections," the Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese of the Methodist Church stated.
Politics not war
Rt Rev. Asare-Kusi said politics was not war but rather a peaceful process of which people with divergent views made a choice.
Advice
The Bishop of the Methodist Church further stated that the whole world was watching Ghana during this time of decision-making and that there was no point for Ghanaians to be at each other’s throat.
