A statement signed by Nana Akomea, the Communications Director said “the party would like to place on record that at no point in time has the office of our General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, been ransacked.”

“Reports that the general secretary’s office was ransacked yesterday, for which pictures are currently being circulated on several social media platforms, are totally and completely false,” Nana Akomea stated.

According to the statement,  “it was the office occupied by the secretary to Mr Kwabena Agyepong that received some levels of vandalism on the day of Chairman Adams Mahama's death. This unfortunate incident occurred at a time when emotions at the headquarters had reached fever pitch.”

The statement mentioned that the act was indeed regrettable, and all steps to ensure that the perpetrators of “this cowardly act are identified and punished are being taken.”

When the Daily Graphic was taken round the secretariat yesterday the main office of Mr Agyepong was not broken into as the door remained closed.

However, the flat screen television at the secretary’s office was seen hanging loosely on the wall while the desk top computer lay face-down on the office desk.

Most of the items such as the tables,  the drawers, the chairs, the photo copiers, the floor tiles, cabinets and the refrigerator were intact.

The atmosphere at the secretariat suggested that it had not been functioning for sometime as empty water bottles  were scattered on the floor.

Mr Kofi Agyapong of the communications office of the secretariat who took the Daily Graphic round expressed surprise at the rumour making the rounds in the social media that the general secretary’s office had been ransacked and  vandalised.
