Ashanti MMDCEs pledge support for incoming minister

Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Ashanti Region have pledged their unflinching support for the Ashanti Regional Minister designate, Mr Peter Anarfi-Mensah.

They have also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for nominating him as the regional minister.

A statement signed by the Dean of Ashanti MMDCEs, Mr Kaakyire Oppong Kyekyeku, who is also the DCE for Afigya Kwabre, and made available to the Daily Graphic, said the past few days had been “very difficult for us with the exit of former regional and deputy ministers.”

It added: “But as father and a decisive leader, the President responded to our plea within the shortest possible time. We thank you, President, for giving us somebody who is not only competent and capable but also a cadre who understands the ideals of a socially democratic government.”

The statement also congratulated Mr Anarfi-Mensah on his nomination and assured him of the support of the MMDCEs in the region in prosecuting the Better Ghana Agenda.

It read: “You can depend on us to bring development to the region which we see as the vehicle that will deliver the one million votes for the President in the 2016 elections.”

It further read: “As you lead Ashanti, the heartbeat of the National Democratic Congress, we pledge our support.”
