Campaign on policies not chieftaincy — Northern Regional npp Secretary
The Northern Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Salifu Sule, has called on members of the party constituency executive in the Zabzugu to campaign towards the November elections based on policies and not chieftaincy issues.

"The National Democratic Congress (NDC), after benefiting hugely from chieftaincy politics, are now shying away from their own political promise of finding lasting to peace in Dagbon and beyond", he said.
Mr Sule gave the advice when he met constituency executive members of the party at Zabuzugu in the Northern Region last Tuesday.
According to the regional secretary, it would be surprising and disingenuous on the part of the NDC to want to do chieftaincy politics this year.
"Let us match them with policy ideas. Whilst the NPP brought about the NHIS, the NDC is collapsing it. Whilst the NPP brought about employment for the youth, the NDC, for its part, has created an empire of unemployment. The rate of suffering, corruption and underdevelopment under President Mahama stands unprecedented", Mr Sule added.
"These are the issues we must confront the NDC with. Their policy as a party in government is to cancel nursing and teacher training college allowances. Our policy as the next party to form government is to bring back these allowances”, he stated.
Party agents
Mr Sule also used the occasion to call on party officers in the Zabzugu area to use skillful and competent persons as party agents to protect the ballot.
“Elections are won or lost at the polling stations not the Supreme Court, “Mr Sule opined. “Let us win this election at the polling stations in November.”

The constituency executive members, for their part, thanked the regional secretary for the visit and pledged to work hard to enhance the fortunes of the party in the constituency and region as a whole.
Zabuzugu is one of the constituencies the NPP won in the 2012 general election and intends to retain it and increase its vote margin in the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Currently, the NPP holds 10 out of 31 parliamentary seats in the Northern Region and has targeted to increase its seats to 17 in the region considered to be one of the strongholds of the ruling NDC.
