Chereponi NDC women lock up DCE’s office

An irate women group of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Chereponi District in the Northern Region on Monday locked up the office of the district chief executive for the area.

The DCE, Hajia Mary Nakobu, who was not present at the time of the incident, was said to be attending a funeral at Salaga.

The irate women of the party, who are said to be displeased with the administration of Hajia Nakobu, also hung red bands on all the doors and the trees on the assembly's yard.

The women also blocked the main entrance to the offices of the DCE, her secretary and the District Coordinating Director with beams.

However, as of the time of filing this report at about 11:20 a.m., calm had returned to the place with staff from the other departments of the assembly going about their normal duties.

The women who were chanting songs in their native language called on the President, John Dramani Mahama, to dismiss the DCE.
