The CPP National Youth Organiser, Ernesto Yeboah, and the General Secretary, Nii Armah Akomfrah, were suspended for allegedly publicly chastising and humiliating Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, the flag bearer of the party, in connection with President Mahama’s Ford car gift saga, by taking stands contrary to the party’s.

Condemnation

The committee, in a press release signed by the Regional Chairman, Mr Thomas A.K.M. Ntumy, said: “We condemn in no uncertain terms acts that undermine the unity of purpose and the high sense of discipline that the party is striving so hard to instil and sustain.”

According to the statement, the regional committee and the executive were doing so in recognition of the dire consequences the alleged acts were bound to have on the image and reputation of the party, as well as its fortunes in the upcoming election.

Members to remain focused

In their view, with only a few months to elections, this was no time to stoke controversies that have the potential of distracting them from their focus and common resolve.

“We, therefore, call on all members of our great party to recognise the fact that the congress of January 2015 is over and there is the need for all of us to rally behind the flag bearer and relentlessly fight until victory is won.”
