He said rather than focusing on the negatives, the president should consign his energies to deliver on his campaign promises in the provision of basic necessities of life including health delivery, education and infrastructure.

The Offinsohene was speaking at a grand durbar at Offinso on Wednesday during President Mahama’s accounting to the people’s tour of the Ashanti region.

Ashanti was the president’s seventh region he was touring to commission and inspect projects including a number of Community Day Schools.

The Offinsohene commended the president for improving on the road network in his municipality including a recently built 10-kilometre asphalted road.

The chief said he was not a politician adding that the issue of development irrespective of the party in power would always speak for itself.

He pledged to ward off illegal mining operatives popularly called galamsey in his municipality to preserve the water bodies and other natural vegetations in the area.

The offinsohene said the galamsey operators have not made any attempt yet to mine in his locality but indicated that he would fight them head-on if they dared.

President Mahama promised to construct an extra five kilometres asphalted road to Offinsoman in response to an earlier request made by the chief.

He reiterated that he was not a violent person and promised Ghanaians to use his position as the Commander in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces to ensure that there was a peaceful election in November.

The president inspected a 500-bed second military hospital at Afari in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of the Ashanti region which was 70 per cent complete.

He promised to be back before the end of the year to commission the ‘soft’ structure of the project with the hope of commissioning the fully equipped facility in the first quarter of next year.

The president also commissioned two Community Day SHS at Adebewora in the Atwima Mponua District and Adugyama in the Ahafo Ano South East District of the region.
