Election 2024: Adamu Ramadan floors Akosua Asaa Manu to retain Adentan Constituency

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Adentan Constituency, Mohammed Adamu Ramadan has joined the political history makers as the first MP to retain the seat successfully.

In an emphatic win, Ramadan polled 56,303 to beat the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Akosua Asaa Manu, who polled *35,143 to retain the seat he first won in 2020.

Though he lost some of the votes garnered in 2020, in terms of numbers, he still managed to pull victory through, breaking the jinx of the one-term MP in the Constituency.

In 2020, Ramadan coming up against then incumbent, NPP's Yaw Buaben Asamoah, won the seat with 63,436 as against the former's 49,255.

It was the third time the NDC had contested, having challenged Mr Asamoah in 2016 both as first timers.

Since the creation of the Adentan Constituency out of the Ashaiman Constituency in 2004, none of the previous four MPs has been able to annex the seat twice, as they either lost the party primaries or the main election.

In a brief reaction after being declared the winner, Mr Ramadan thanked the party supporters, for their hardwork which had delivered the victory and also the good people of Adentan Constituency for believing in him.

"This is historic in all ways, and I can only thank everyone who made it possible," the MP said.
