For the past four years, the municipality has undertaken more than 80 infrastructure and social development projects in education, health, agriculture, sanitation, housing, water and roads.

On education, the municipality has constructed five two-units, 18 three-units, one four-unit, seven six-unit classroom blocks and one-storey dormitory.

The assembly has also constructed CHIP compound clinics which comprise nurses’ quarters in strategic communities ,as well as KVIP toilets. Additionally, it has constructed 11  urban and feeder roads for easy accessibility; an office complex, municipal education office and staff bungalows.

In an interview with the Mr John Kwao Sackey, Municipal Chief Executive, he said the performance of the municipality showed the commitment of the National Democratic Congress to bridge the development gap between urban communities and the cities. He also said massive development projects were being undertaken to improve the lives of people in the area, and added that more projects would be completed this year.

According to him, all communities in the municipality were connected to the national grid which was crucial in the effective implementation of the better Ghana agenda.

Mr Sackey added that the directive by President John Dramani Mahama for the assemblies to name streets and number houses was on course and gave the assurance that the project would be fully executed before the one-and-half years’ deadline.

He also said the municipality had increased its internally generated funds, an indication of the effectiveness and efficiency in that direction.

Additionally, Mr Sackey said the peace and unity the municipality was enjoying would be sustained, and appealed to the chiefs, religious leaders, opinion leaders and youth groups to continue supporting him to develop the area and improve the lives of the people.
