George Andah to contest Awutu Senya West NPP primaries

Campaign posters of Mr George Andah, a leading member of the pressure group, OccupyGhana has emerged indicating his interest to contest the Awutu Senya West constituency Parliamentary seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr Andah confirming his interest to become a Member of Parliament told Citifmonline that he was ready to serve the constituency and the country.

“I am no angel but I have always been guided by certain values and principles and I believe that … my experience puts me in a good place to serve Ghana. I am with the new Ghanaian who believes that right is right and wrong is wrong irrespective of political background you may have or political leader you admire,” Mr Andah told Citifmonline. 

When he wins the NPP primaries, he would then have to come up against the incumbent, Ms Hannah Tetteh, the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister should she decide to contest again on the ticket of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Asked about how Mr Andah intends to challenge an experienced and popular incumbent he said: “I believe I am ready to serve my country, my constituency and the ideology I believe in. I don’t think this is about beating A or B. It’s about putting myself up to serve, and hopefully crossing the first step of being selected as the parliamentary Candidate for the NPP.”

George Andah formally worked at Guinness Ghana Limited where he rose through the ranks to become Innovation Manager, Marketing Manager and Marketing Director. 

He moved to MTN in 2007 and as Marketing Director, he was awarded the prestigious Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) Best Marketing Practitioner of the year in 2008 .

From MTN he moved to Airtel in Nigeria and later as Chief Executive of Globacom in Ghana. He settled down on his own company Rudder Solutions, a consultancy firm he established in 2013 to provide Integrated Marketing Solutions to companies.
