Context
The Electoral Commission has set September 2 for the by-election in the Akwatia Constituency.
The parliamentary seat of the Akwatia Constituency became vacant following the death of the incumbent Member of Parliament, Ernest Kumi, after a short illness.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP), to which the late Ernest Kumi belongs, is yet to announce the opening of nominations.
The winner of the NDC’s primary to be held on August 4, 2025 will lock horns with the one who will be elected by the NPP to represent them.
