CPP demands refund of security recruitment fees

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has called on the government to refund all monies paid by applicants as recruitment voucher fees.

It said the party would not hesitate to take the matter to court on behalf of affected applicants if the government failed to return the funds.

“The CPP demands that all the supposed voucher monies be refunded to each and every applicant as soon as possible or the CPP will sue the government on behalf of the applicants,” a statement signed by the National Communications Director of the CPP, Osei Kofi Acquah, said.

Unfair

It argued that the recruitment process was unfair from the beginning because the John Mahama-led government allegedly invited hundreds of thousands of applications despite having clearance to recruit only a limited number of personnel.

The CPP said although the government reportedly had financial clearance to recruit about 5,000 personnel, it sold recruitment forms to an estimated 500,000 applicants.

“With each applicant paying GH¢220 as a voucher fee, approximately GH¢113 million Ghana cedis has been collected from Ghanaian youth who have been disqualified,” it said.

The statement described the situation as a calculated move that exploited the desperation of unemployed young people seeking opportunities to serve their country.

“This is not a mistake but a calculated and masterminded plan to rip off already desperate and poor Ghanaian youth,” he added.

The party is therefore demanding an immediate apology from the government to all affected applicants and a clear plan to create employment opportunities for them.
