CPP to celebrate every 6th March as Day of Rebirth
The National Reorganisational Committee of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has announced that the party will mark March 6 each year as a “Day of Rebirth” as part of efforts to rebuild and reposition the historic political organisation.
The party said its renewal agenda was anchored on what it called the “3Rs” — Rebirth, Reconciliation and Reorganisation, which would guide the party’s efforts to strengthen its internal structures and reconnect with the Ghanaian public.
The Chairman of the CPP’s National Reorganisational Committee, Yirimambo Moses Ambing, made the declaration on March 6, 2026, at a ceremony held at Nkroful in the Western Region, organised by the committee in collaboration with the Western Regional secretariat of the party.
The event brought together party members and supporters in what leaders described as a symbolic moment, signalling the party’s renewed direction.
Rebirth pillar
Under the Rebirth pillar, Mr Ambing explained that the party had initiated reforms and restructuring of several organs to enhance their effectiveness.
He said the communications team had been reorganised, with renewed focus on strengthening the party’s social media presence.
He also noted that CPP’s tertiary educational branches are being reorganised to attract and groom more young people within the party.
As part of the rebirth process, Mr Ambing said the Reorganisational Committee has created a number of auxiliary groups to support the party’s official structures.
Among them, he said, was The Osagyefo Queens, an all-female group established to support the Women’s Wing in recruiting more young women into the party.
Another group, The Young Nkrumaists, he said, had been formed to support the Youth Wing by educating young people on the ideology of Nkrumaism and its relevance to the development of modern Ghana.
He said the committee had also established ‘Kɔkɔle’, aimed at mobilising party footsoldiers and sympathisers for grassroots activities and comrades, a group bringing together academicians, intellectuals and professionals within the party to develop strategies for applying Nkrumah’s ideas to the country’s economic development.
Mr Ambing added that The Osagyefo Army had been formed to provide internal security during party events.
Reconciliation
On reconciliation, he said the party was implementing an amnesty initiative aimed at reaching out to former aggrieved members and inviting them back into the CPP without conditions.
He added that the outreach would also extend to other Nkrumaist political parties and pro-Nkrumaist civil society groups.
He said the final stage of reorganisation would focus on strengthening party structures nationwide by completing organisation at the polling station, electoral area and constituency levels.
